Amy Richardson-Golia’s Favorite Things; The June & January Founder Shares the Items She Can’t Live Without

June 1, 2019 – Austin Monthly – In 2011, while pregnant with her first child and recovering from knee surgery, Amy Richardson-Golia sought a diversion during her down time. The New York native, who had learned to sew in a 4-H program in elementary school, decided to buy T-shirts from a thrift store and convert them into baby hats. After giving some of the hats away at a baby shower, one party guest suggested that she sell the rest on Etsy. Within a year, Richardson-Golia sold enough of her newborn accessories online from her Brooklyn apartment to quit her job at Condé Nast and run the business, Little Hip Squeaks, full-time. Renamed June & January in 2015, her e-commerce site now sells stylish baby and children’s apparel and accessories to customers around the world; in 2018, the business was named #472 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies.
