ON THE INSIDE WITH TINA BARRY

Fall 2009: Fashion Show Rocks On!

Children's Club and Vogue Bambini produced a well-focused runway show (March 8, 2009) with the theme "Rock Style." The junior models looked the part with florescent pink hair, bad girl (and boy) black eyeliner and plenty of attitude. While the grunge look was present in several of the 16 collections, more sedate styles including special occasion dresses and 50's inspired frocks reflected the variety of themes present throughout the exhibition.

Working in a palette of black, charcoal, and a shot of brilliant red, Bonnie Young led the way with the luxurious Celia smocked dress topped with a Tibetan curly lamb vest.

Bonnie Young's embroidered Onyx coat was fashioned from leather as soft and thin as a fine kid glove.

Country sweet denim and knits from Miki House.

A fur jacket, argyle, plaid, and a rockin' color palette: Zutano had the season's themes down pat.

Baby Phat Girlz's lean-lined tracksuit gave the perennial charcoal and pink combination a welcome jolt. Black lent an edge to the patchworked boy's tee and cargo shorts.

Groovy Daisy Rock Girl Guitars are sized for the small fingers of an aspiring rock diva.

Buzz Basics showed the newest color combination of the season with the plum colored dress and gray leggings.

Kate Mack's storybook dresses in the feminine dusty pink and brown combination gave girls lovely special occasion dresses without the starch.

Hudson Jeans' skinny and boot-cut styles kept the focus on narrow lines.

DKNY Kids went for the grunge with a girl's graffiti T-shirt and the boy's dirt- washed green denim pants.

The folks at Diesel Kids mixed things up with a ruffled shirt, washed denims, and funky sneakers.

A black turtleneck bodice and leggings shook up Monnalisa's traditional party frock.

Monnalisa's soft pink and white colors kept the ensemble from looking overly trendy.

Monnalisa's designers took poetic license with the luxurious black and white smocks worn with the company's flat-heeled suede boots.

The finale.
