Project Kool

Reusable and recyclable products for children and adults that make a difference in the effects of Global Warming

Designer: Hunter Gross

Wholesale: $10 - $17.50

Standouts: The eco friendly natural canvas messenger bags, lunch bags with Velcro closures, totes, duffels, and place mats which are all available in natural canvas or in 4 tie dye color combinations; they come with lead free washable markers so kids can add their own art work.

FYI: Hunter is the "youngest CEO in America" and has received much deserved press; he was on the 'Today Show', and has been written up in such publications as Newsday. When he was just 9 years old and in the sixth grade, his teacher told the class about the effects of Global Warming, he knew he had to do something to help and conceived of a line of natural canvas lunch bags to use instead of plastic or paper. The company's tag line is, "You can make a difference if you think green." By the way, how perfect is it that his name is Hunter (as in Hunter green, get it?)

Piggy Paints

Kid friendly, non toxic fingernail polish

Designer: Melanie Hurley

Wholesale: 12.50 - 13.50

Standouts: The packaged gift sets comprised of a selection of the vibrant colors, and a large bottle of the all natural nail polish remover.

FYI: Ms. Hurley is a stay-at-home mom with two little girls who love to paint their nails. She hated the idea of her little ones putting their hands in their mouths after painting with traditional kid polishes and she set out to make her own brand that is free of chemicals, formaldehyde, acetate, acetone, toluene, and phthalates. The company's motto is, 'Natural as mud" (and pigs love mud, hence the name).

Old Soles

Soft leather baby shoes designed in Australia

Designer: Vicki Lever

Wholesale: $18

Sizes: 0 - 24 months

Standouts: The Cowboy Toe Tip in suede with metallic tip; the sporty lace up Hip Hop and Urban Joggers in leather; the gold, silver, and leopard print Luxury Ballet Flat; the silver and gold leather Petal Ballet Flat

FYI: The company was founded in January 2008 (this is their second Children's Club), and came about as a result of Ms. Lever's inability to find "fashionable shoes" for babies. From the beginning, she has been inspired by "current runway designs" for her pre walker and baby first step leather shoes. The shoes are designed in Australia but made in Vietnam; they are distinctive for their soft leather and high quality, and everything is sewn, no glue is used. Their tag line is "Pure Comfort-Pure Fashion."
