ARGINGTON Homebase: Brooklyn, NY DESIGNER: Jenny Argie and Andrew Thornton Wholesale prices for the Fundy table: Approximately $150 Argie and Thornton were one of the first design teams to bring modern kids' furniture to the children's market. They continue to offer clean-lined, well-priced pieces crafted from sustainable materials. Each Argington design is built with child safe additions like slow closing hinges so nothing slams down on little fingers. The Fundy table's dry erase top opens on both long ends; inside is a wooden caddy for supplies. Four locking casters finish off the base making the item a mobile play station. CANDU Homebase: Sonoma, CA DESIGNER: Rob Honigman Wholesale prices: Contact manufacturer With the slide of two knobs, the all-in-one Candu multiform design transforms into a rocking chair, a side table, an adjustable easel, a bench or step-stool, a magazine or book rack - just about anything a child wants it to be. JENNIFER DELONGE Homebase: Carlsbad, CA DESIGNER: Jennifer Delonge Wholesale prices: Approximately $19-$699 Why can't kids furniture be just as well made and aesthetically pleasing as their parents'? That's the question Delonge asked when she launched her modern line of better kids' pieces a few years ago. Here, the Parker adds a touch of classic good looks to a modern interior (four years and up), while the Ava (one-to-four years) lends Mid-century verve to a child's room. MUU Homebase: Los Angeles, CA DESIGNER: Robert Kwak Wholesale prices: Approximately $250-$700 Parents who want children's furniture made of recycled wood and safe, nontoxic paints have met their match with the newly launched Muu. Kwak employs sustainable materials for his streamlined convertible cribs, dressers, and changing tables then sweetens the deal with a side panel that can be printed with a choice of several animal, floral, or musically inspired graphics - and a child's name. ROOM ACCESSORIES LAMP-IN-A-BOX Homebase: Culver City, CA DESIGNER: Daniel Cytrynowicz Wholesale prices: Bases $20-$39, shades $19 Choose your shade - they're biodegradable plastic and come in options such as "animation," "food & wine," and "pop culture," among others. Decide on a base - there are several made of crystal, nickel, acrylic and "cars." Put them together and you have a made-to-order lamp. Once you decide on the components, you can have the lamp personalized with a scent: The designer offers a disc that sits atop the bulb. Its fragrance - available in five aromas such as "citrus" (bergamot, lemon peel and orange blossom), and "lust" (amber, wood and rose) - is released when the bulb heats up.

FLENSTED MOBILES Homebase: Denmark DESIGNER: Louise Helmersen Wholesale price: $19 Mobiles were always popular in Denmark, but the modern Stork mobile, designed and manufactured in 1954, earned its creator Christian Flensted, the name "Uromager," that, loosely translated, means "maker of mischievous things that are always on the move." The company, under the ownership and design direction of the founder's son and wife, continues to issue new mobiles dreamed up in their "Department of Space Research." According to Torben Nielsen who distributes the items from his Texas-based showroom, "Flensted Mobiles are created so that the elements are in constant motion while the entire mobile maintains a harmonic balance."
