Apparel and Accessories at ABC Kids Expo: Biker Chic to Classic and Everything in Between - Part II
SWADDLEDESIGNS Homebase: Seattle, WA Lynette Damir, RN was one of the first to introduce the swaddling blanket. She's branched out to include bibs, burpies, a number of blanket styles, ZipMe Sacks and now one-pieces. Made of cotton ($5) or organic cotton ($7), the modern pieces are given visual interest with a simple dot pattern at the neckline. BELLE PARISH* Homebase: Los Angeles, CA Stunning actor and former Miss America Ali Landry may look dark and exotic, but this Louisiana native is a real Southern Belle. When Landry, (then the Doritos spokesperson) met her business partner, Annie Kate Pons, another southern gal, on the film set of Landry's soon-to-be-husband's movie, they clicked like, well, fried chicken and waffles. Their friendship has endured and now the two have made a shared dream happen: the launch of Belle Parish (NB to 2T; $20-$49). Landry (on the left) and Pons.
The girls' collection of traditional two-piece sets and dresses is inspired by the lovely, handcrafted pieces Landry's mother sewed for her daughter when she was an infant. Like her mother's pieces, Belle Parish's designs, such as this sweet silk collared number, are classic yet not starchy.

DADOO KIDS* (Organic) Homebase: Palo Alto, CA With the launch of Dadoo Kids, designer Christine Miller Kelly's collection of pure organic cotton, and organic cotton and bamboo separates, offers "super comfortable children's clothing that simultaneously celebrates the joy of being a kid (no rush to look like an adult!) and the realities of day-of-day play." The modern lines and custom designed patterns, such as the Tunic dress and the boy's outfit with repeating helicopter motif, make the pieces easy to take on and off (the clothes are knit with no closures and elastic waists). HOPSCOTH DESIGNS Homebase: La Mesa, CA Designers Jennifer Williams and Michele Briggs, lovers of all things vintage, funky and fun, reference the "vibrant colors of the gypsy campfire" for their Spring 2010 collection. The Charlotte dress (fits 12 months to 7T, $37) blends a gypsy's mixed prints (notice the delicate birds on the bodice and skirt) into a ladylike silhouette. The result is one irresistible frock.

LEX MODERN* (Organic) Homebase: Sausalito, CA Newcomer Melanie Young's goal for her collection of organic T-shirts (fits 3 months to 4T; $13) and wonderful wall art ($34 to $99. Add $20 for personalization) is to "create a quality product that is earth-friendly and will fill a child's world with happy, modern images." She succeeds by keeping the graphics strong and simple. Her palette - dark neutrals punched with orange, sky, aqua and cranberry - reflects an artist who's confident in her color sense.

LEGWEAR: BABYLEGS Homebase: Seattle, WA Was there ever a time when children didn't wear BabyLegs? I can't remember. The thigh-high, footless legwarmers have become a staple in children's wardrobes. Nicole Donnelly, who launched the craze, now offers cute patterned socks like the Hiker in edgy camouflage and the two-tone cocoa/olive to her collection (fits NB to 4T; $6 for two pairs).
