CRIBS/FURNITURE: ARGINGTON (Organic) Homebase: Brooklyn, NY Designers Jenny Argie and Andrew Thornton, known for modern, clean-lined, eco-conscious furnishings have added the Bam collection to their offerings. While still uncluttered and contemporary, Bam is influenced by the curving, organic shapes of Art Nouveau. As always, the pieces are well priced, meet every safety test and are built to last. With an inexpensive Conversion Kit ($99-$129), the Bam Crib ($585-$779), shown with Argington's organic bedding in the Fish & Pebbles design ($115 for sheets), can be extended into a twin-size bed (shown in bamboo with a separate Trundle Drawer).

*COUNTRY COTTAGE Homebase: Westminster, CA French country meets shabby chic in the Country Cottage collection. The Country Cottage design team's pieces are nostalgic without being kitsch, and while gorgeous details like the hand-carving on the head and foot boards on the Country French Bed ($895 twin) prevail the look isn't fussy. The strong, masculine lines of the Beach House Bed ($775 twin) are appropriate for a child's room and won't look cute when a boy hits his teen years.

HUSHAMOK (0rganic) Homebase: Auckland, New Zealand A colicky baby can cause all kinds of chaos - with all that crying and carrying on all night it's a wonder parents can function at all. Mark and Julie Soboil, the desperate parents of just such an infant, turned to an old-fashioned cure: the gently swaying of a hammock. They - and their baby - loved the result; the ugly, hard-to-pack hammock, not so much. In 2006, the Hushamok, a comfortable hammock and curving wooden or metal stand that resembles a large Calder sculpture was born. Now babies can look good and swing good too. MONTE DESIGN GROUP (Organic) Homebase: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Clean lines and sumptuous, eco-friendly materials make Ralph Montemurro's Ninna Nanna Bassinet the chicest at the show. The removable micro-fiber covered basket sits on a beautifully curved, solid birch basket. The basket is removable and the washable cover meets Oeko-Tex Standard testing. SPOT ON SQUARE Homebase: Omaha, NE Your baby is a creative genius. You know that by the way he stares at spots of sunlight on the wall, fascinated by the patterns, his aversion to manmade textiles, and the way he peers over his sling cooing at great design in the museum. The next Mies van der Rohe will adore Nicole and Bob Springer's stunning Roh Crib. I did a little swooning myself when I caught sight of the stunner. In a gleaming walnut cube are double half-inch, BPA free, clear acrylic panels that open the design like one would open a window to the outdoors. If this piece doesn't end up on every celebrity's wish list...I'm hanging up my computer.
