Children's Club January 2010: Early Fall 2010 - Hope You Like Purple - Part V
T-SHIRTS AND COTTON KNIT GROUPS:
KIDS INK Homebase: Corona, CA DESIGNER: Anna Chiu Sizes: Girls and boys 3 months to 7 years; Wholesale prices: $10-$32 The best way to give a child a tattoo - or many tattoos - is treating them to pieces from the Kids Ink collection - no commitment issues that way. The collection features cotton separates "inked" with either a single tattoo or a montage of tattoos. Very cool. Outstanding pieces: Edgy and sweet: pieces from the Holiday collection. The comfortable, go-with-everything Ballerina bodysuit (those are toe shoes on the chest) from the girls' fall collection makes an ideal partner to the soft, chic shrug and lounge pants. The shrug and pants are a great alternative to the sweatsuit and they're a million times better looking. Tel: 949 233-0352 E-mail: Annac@kidsink.com
*JUNE PLUM Homebase: New York, NY DESIGNER: Kate Jarrett Sizes: Girls and boys 3 months to 7 years; Wholesale prices: $15-$27 For spring, Jarrett works a palette of warm taupe, yellow, pink and pale blue and adds a jolt of bright red for impact. The organic cotton goods are shaped for comfort, and sport playful animal, insect and floral motifs. Outstanding pieces: Yellow and taupe look chic and fashion forward in this flirty girl's outfit and the combination is just as appropriate employed in the boy's polo and cargo pants. The look is a fresh way to work brother/sister outfits. Tel: 917 703-0144 E-mail: Kate@june-plum.com
KNITWEAR:
AND THEN THERE WAS JAKE SAM'S FRIEND Homebase: New York, NY DESIGNER: Shelley Hunt Sizes for Sam's Friend: 12 months to 6X/7 years, Wholesale prices for Sam's Friend: $14-$36; Sizes for And Then There Was Jake: 12 months to 6X/7 years, Wholesale prices for And Then There Was Jake: $14-$32 Perusing the sweaters in the different collections of this company is akin to looking through the sketchbook of an especially gifted, color sensitive 6-year-old: ballerinas twirl, horses gallop, flowers bloom in the happiest shades of the rainbow. Outstanding pieces: One way to play with the traditional sweater and skirt is to swap the usual navy crewneck with this royal blue pullover that sports a prize-winning pony. The plaid kilt moves into the 21st Century with a comfortable brushed flannel plaid edged in flirty tulle. (Both pieces from the Sam's Friend line.) Who let the dogs out? Blame it on Hunt for dreaming up the charming dachshund on the sophisticated red, gray and black crewneck from the And Then There Was Jake line. Pair it with brushed flannel trousers in a men's wear herringbone design (pants will be straight legged in production). DRESS COLLECTIONS:
BLUSH BY US ANGELS Homebase: Los Angeles, CA DESIGNERS: Norma Sawdy and Judy Pokonosky Sizes: 7 to 16 years; Wholesale prices: Dresses $42-$47, coordinating coats $71-$75 For fall, the designers kept the colors bold and the shapes simple. That's the best way to show off shimmery fabrics and opulent embellishments.
Outstanding pieces: No jewelry necessary with this bevy of beauties. The pretty girl is enough. Tel: 213 624-4477 E-mail: Info@usangels.com
KIDCUTETURE Homebase: Lawrenceville, NJ DESIGNER: Natasha Pentelyat Sizes: 2 to 12 years; Wholesale prices: $18-$65 Pentelyat is as much an architect as she is a fashion designer. Her dresses are all about creative cutting with touches of brilliant color. They're exciting to see on the hanger, and, when worn, they fall into interesting trapeze, bubble and tiered shapes. Outstanding pieces: Pentelyat provides drama without beading or glitzy fabrications. Her Kara, made of graceful draped Jersey, is cut narrow on top and fuller to the hem. You can see in the second photo how the dress is shaped to fall in long tiers on either side (the center is a few inches shorter). Tel: 609 216-7490 E-mail: Olga.pentelyat.kidcuteture.com
