KAPITAL K Homebase: Cedar Grove, NJ DESIGNER: Spencer Sujjaporamest Sizes: 2 to 8 years; Wholesale prices: $11-$50 Kapital K's got the (black and) blues and that's not bad. The designer mixed electric and steel blues with interesting textures - nylon; a down coat with knit sleeves; a Western collar made of fine wale corduroy that feels like velvet on a plaid shirt - for a collection with great dimension and drama.
Outstanding pieces: The knit sleeves on the down jacket give it the look of vest over a sweater. It's elegant atop the funky tee and pants printed with a subtle camouflage pattern.

KNUCKLEHEADS Homebase: Vancouver, WA DESIGNER: Melissa Nash Sizes: NB to 12 years; Wholesale prices: $10-$30 With all the plaids, straight legged jeans and down vests and jackets in her fall collection, Nash's line reminded me of my high school boyfriends. (Unlike my guys of yesteryear, the clothing didn't reek of beer and cigarette smoke.)
Outstanding pieces: That leaf green really sells this hip little lumberjack's jacket.

3 PEARLS Homebase: New York, NY DESIGNERS: John and Shelly Blye Sizes: 12 months to 16 years; Wholesale prices: $14-$22 Go ahead and call the Blye's narrow minded. They couldn't disagree. Not with a spring collection with the skinniest shorts, skirts, jeans, and jackets on the market.
