New York International Gift Fair: February 2010 - Part I
Whether it was a step backwards by a few decades (Peace symbols are still strong and there's a trend toward British memorabilia.) or a long leap into the past, organic materials, naïve graphics of animals, and items with a handcrafted look made an important showing at the New York International Gift Fair (January 30-February 4, 2010).

Outstanding piece: The Cozie Elf Onzie fleece one-piece keeps baby warm head-to-toe with a generous hood and hand and foot covers. The four available color combinations have the usual Zutano wow factor.

Homebase: Seattle, WA DESIGNER: Eda Topur Sizes: 6 months; Wholesale prices: $12.50-$25 Topur's niche in the children's market is fur-lined, suede booties in a myriad of great colors from her company Edoche. She's branching out with something new to celebrate.
Outstanding piece: Pop open a bottle of bubbly and, while you're at it, let the cork fly on Baby Champagne, a champagne canister, bottle or goblet. The canister is filled with a hooded towel, washmit and bib, the bottle includes a bodysuit, two bibs and booties and, instead of bubbly the goblet is filled with a bodysuit. Now those are toast-worthy gifts!

Outstanding pieces: The small raffia bag holds an organic one-piece with an adorable animal graphic. Inside the larger bag is a two-piece outfit with terry cloth booties. The bag and hangtags are so attractive, there's no need for wrapping paper.
