You'd think a mother of six and grandmother to 22 would want a rest, but no, not LuAnn Conant. In January, 2008, Conant decided to "embrace the creative gift she was given" and launched Kidz Kaffe. "I have spent decades designing and making clothes for my own children. My grandchildren have been the inspiration to now fuel my passion into a business." The vision for the retail and wholesale collection, says Conant, "is to provide beautifully styled, boutique-quality children's clothing." The busy mothers who shop her online collections, as well as boutique retailers who stock her wares, "look for quality and unique styling in addition to functionality and comfort," adds Conant, so she ensures that each garment features fine fabrics as well as a unique look and attention to special trims and details.
"Having tea with my granddaughters in the gazebo inspired Lexi's Garden Tea," says Conant of the vivid floral group. Lush, vintage style bouquets of bright yellow cabbage roses on a lawn green ground provide a fresh, fun focal point to this sweet, old-fashioned group. "It's 100 percent cotton and comfortable, easy dressing!" Conant says.
Straight off the runway is Sophia's Uptown Girl, a sophisticated black and white line with lots of ruffles, ribbons, varied patterns and textures. "These classic looks," says Conant, "are great fun and provide endless opportunities for mixing and matching."
Conant describes the Fall 2010 collections (photos not yet available) as vintage-inspired with prints featuring feathers, leaves and flowers as well as tartan plaids. Colors are rich and fabrics will include, taffeta, faux fur, denim, and velveteen with touches of animal prints, and satin. "There are many pieces to mix and match. Great for the holidays and much, much more!"
