Editor's Note: Some of our sponsor companies prefer to keep their children's businesses out of the national and regional wholesale trade show circuits (or at least not attend all the shows every season). So to keep you abreast of collections you won't find (or find infrequently) in trade venues, we've started this new column. When Donna Prescott and her husband Robert Prescott talk about their children's clothing collection Young Colors, they use words like "fun" and "playful" to describe the 10-year-old line for girls and boys.

"We try to keep the collection spirited," says Donna, who sells the line to specialty boutiques, catalogues and resort shops in 46 states and the Caribbean. "Our Spring 2009 collection is full of color and custom designed fabrics. Our signature group, Patchworks, has a little bit of everything: bright color, mixed prints and playful shapes. The other side of Young Colors is our Pastel and Whites line that features classic, crisp, all white styles that often appear in children's portraits and beach photos."

Both groups focus on two of the season's most important trends: A retro feeling in color and pattern while keeping shapes uncluttered; and a step further back in time with lightly ruffled feminine, white wear brightened with clean pastels.
